Denise Osso writes fiction, essays, poetry and songs.
Her short stories and essays have appeared in The Los Angele Review and in pigeonpagesnyc.com and delighted audiences in The Los Angeles New Fiction Emerging Writer Series and Live Writing Series in Beacon, New York. Her short story Flight Plan: A Fable was selected for an Honorable Mention by Elizabeth McCracken in the 2019 Craft Short Fiction Prize. She attended the 2018 Tin House Summer Workshop and is an alum of the Ragdale Foundation and a Virginia Center for Creative Arts Fellow. She is working on a collection of stories about how the magical pokes through the mundane and a memoir. A prolific songwriter, her music and lyrics have been recorded by artists in the U.S. and Europe and featured in film and on television. A passionate performer, she appeared Off-Broadway at The Mercer-Brecht, sang at Café Largo and the Troubadour in L.A., and at clubs all over the north side of sweet home Chicago.
